It has claw-like appendages on its flat stems (or cladophylls) that resemble crab claws, hence of its other common names Crab Cactus. It is also known by other names Zygocactus Truncates or False Christmas Cactus, etc.Schlumbergera truncata is a holiday cactus. As the plant matures you can expect it to reach up to around 30 cm (12″) tall and about 30 cm (12″) in diameter.It grows outdoors in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 10 through 12.
