This listing is for a box of FIFTEEN (15) new solar tubes. (Collector manifold is sold separately.) Several pallets remain of 58 mm x 1800 mm tubes, unused, brand new, free daily shipping from California, available now. This is the large 6 foot size, usually for the big 30 tube collectors. These tubes style have been tested for multiple winters and summers and have never had one break or fail or loss of vacuum when installed outside. They're great quality with a heavy solid conductor inside. They'll last years, if not decades (with no observed performance decrease!). The efficiency is incredible, as compared to PV solar. They're actually so efficient, that laying one tube out in the shade risks burning one's hand because they capture so much heat! How do they compare to flat plate collectors? These perform better than flat plate collectors for the same amount of surface space (in California), and are actually stronger over the long run than flat plate. These were tested in California side by side with flat plate collectors They're also light enough that one person can carry and install them. They will work better in fog than flat plate collectors. Better rain and dew flow-off Little to no frost accumulation (can take hours for frost to burn off flat plate collectors) If a tube breaks (such as getting hit by a baseball), simply pop it out and install another, or leave it that way -- the entire system continues to run near normal. Whereas if the glass on a flat plate collector breaks, the entire system is nonoperational. And most importantly: Evacuated tubes don't FREEZE nor need antifreeze. DHW solar installers know: one bad freeze or power outage destroys flat plate collectors across entire regions (has happened before in California), whereas tubes are foolproof in regards to freezing. The total length of tube, with copper rod sticking out at end, is approx 75 inches (6 foot 3). Rod length is adjustable. The reason the seller is getting rid of the tubes is because a large shipment was sent for the intention of heating a major facility (combination of thermal heat via radiators and radiant flooring, as well as DHW). These were not designed for cooking, as the diameter is slightly larger than a pill bottle. However there's great vertical volume in the tube and the bottom silicone gasket plus copper conductor element easily pops out for access to the inner chamber. Simply insert the rod back inside tube when needed. Solid copper element is heavy enough to be repurposed as grounding rod, lightning conductor, recycled, etc. Caution, tube is glass. Element can reach hundreds of degrees Fahrenheit, do not let children play with unsupervised. Vacuum integrity can be confirmed by visual observation. If the top of the tube has a silverly appearance (as depicted in the photos), the vacuum is intact. It's normal for the solid copper rod to have some tarnish at the bottom where it's exposed.
