May be even 1700s. We are not asian art experts. Maybe Chinese or Japanese? Lovely corner shelf for candle or other. There is a small latch to hold it in place. Wear to the paint from age, some crazing, but overall clean and full scene. Measures approx 9.25" tall x 8" across the front x 6.5" deep in the center. Black painted wood is a little less than 1/4" thick. Missing one of the bottom corner felt circles.
