Collated, with all issue points as stated by Francis Lewis Randolph in 'Studies for a Byron Bibliography'. It is not known how many copies of this work were printed in the small paper edition, as stated by Thomas James Wise in his Byron bibliography (p5). Half-title is present. Endpapers have been renewed.'Don Juan' is Lord Byron's satirical epic poem, an important feat of Romantic poetry. Byron portrays Don Juan as a man easily seduced by women, rather than a womaniser. The character, but not the plot, is taken from the legendary Spanish libertine figure.Byron's poem is written in ottava rima across sixteen cantos. Upon the publication of the first cantos in 1819 the poem was criticized as immoral. Bound in a quarter cloth library binding, with the label of Nottingham Public Reference Library to the front. Library stamps dotted throughout the work, including to the title page. CONDITION Bound in a quarter cloth library binding, with the label of Nottingham Public Reference Library to the front. Externally, sound, with slight rubbing to joints and extremities. Spine has darkened a little, with discolouration to the library label and board extremities. Endpapers have been renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with the occasional scattered spotting and library stamps dotted throughout the work.
