Description: 1859-O Liberty Seated dollar, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by NGC as Very Fine, VF details (for cleaning). We have several graded dollars from this series, and offer this one for acquisition by a collector who might otherwise not invest so much. Coins with flaws - such as old cleaning for this specimen - means more affordable prices. This silver dollar, pre-Morgan, was just the third of the New Orleans Mint's four years, here and there, that it would mint dollars before the Civil War and the temporarily closing of the mint. Because of this sporadic minting, the 1859-O dollar has been one of those desired coins for type collectors and also enthusiasts of what was still Early American history. Because the 1859-Os available did not get traded in Asian markets, but instead were held and then spent after the Civil War as normal markets returned, these circulated 1859-Os tend to look less beat and more original. Having been cleaned, introducing a flaw, and worn on the obverse (but not the reverse) to VF-level means that this can be offered at almost a Morgan-class price so a collector can have one without the higher investment. The Real Deal, scarce and sought-after 1859-O Seated Liberty dollar is offered for auction here!
