Description: Payment | Shipping | Additional Information | Policies 1880's Aesthetic Style 6-Drawer Chest w Egyptian Revival Details Herter Brothers Late 19th Century Dramatic six drawer chest with gilt and ebonized details. Came from Direct Auction in Chicago that certified it as Herter Brothers, but there are no marks and we cannot guarantee this. Gallery top with zig-zag veneers and Neo-Egyptian motifs. Incising on the edges and medallions in the bands surrounding the drawer fronts. In very good structural condition, worthy of minor restoration, if desired. Solid walnut, with "pin and cove" machined dovetails, common in 1880's furniture. The drawer pulls are mostly intact - all the plates and pulls are present, and except for the bottom two drawers. These two drawers have the four plates, but no looped pulls. Fortunately, the missing pulls can be easily replicated from solid brass rods. One knob pull support is missing, but again, this is a fairly standard part, and easily replaceable. There are several scratches on the piece's top, and marks and nicks throughout the piece and on the base. The is a chip on the cattail fan at the crest of the gallery. Most of the edges and corners are sharp. Very heavy, solid piece of antique "high style" furniture. Shipping is FREE in the continental USA.
