This is a history of the University of Maryland's School of Medicine that took place between the years 1807-1890, written by alumni and medical historian Eugene Fauntleroy Cordell. The Medical School was chartered in 1807 as the first pubic medical school in the United States. The contents include an introduction that tells the history of events preceding the founding of the College of Medicine, and then is followed by chapters that focus on the College during specific periods, such as 1807-1812, 1826-1839, and 1865-1890. It also features a catalogue of alumni, and features images of prominent characters of the College of Medicine's history, such as Samuel Chew, a professor of principles and practice of medicine, Reverend Thomas E. Bond, M.D., an editor for the Christian Advocate and Journal, and Robert Dorsey Coale, a professor of Chemistry and Toxicology. Issues with the spine provides the buyer with a good opportunity for restoration, if desired. FORN-ABE-MSB-Shelf-598-jr032
