It was called the "Little Giant" because the tonnage it hauled was well out of proportion to its size - it served steel mills and carried not only finished steel product but also coal, ores, limestone and ingots. Formed in 1873, it was at varying times controlled by the New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail. It became independent after Conrail was broken up between CSX and Norfolk Southern, although it operated as a separate entity. CSX gained control of the P&LE in 1993. The book measures appx 8 x 5 1/4 inches closed, 10 1/2 x 8 inches opened, and contains 16 pages. Not all pages have entries. The cover is a mid-weight cardstock, and the content pages are a lower-grade kraft paperstock. This book is in good condition, considering it was a document used in the field and is over 110 years old. All writing/markings are from its use. There are couple of edge snags.
