Description: A stunning piece of history - Antique photo postcard taken approximately 1908 (per stamp box 1908-1910 printing era and Inebriate hospital closed in 1908) Antique RPPC Hospital Buildings in Knoxville Iowa previously located on W Pleasant Street. First building started out as a Industrial Home for the blind and then in early 1900s became an Inebriate Hospital for Alcoholism and drug addiction and insane asylum until it closed around1908 where it sat empty until it was reopened as a VA hospital and administration offices in around 1920s until about 2005. it sat empty for a number of years and recently all the buildings and trees were torn down to redevelop the area for affordable housing. Condition: Previously Owned. Postcards of this age might have tanning, creases, edge or corner dents/wear, minor foxing, and may have writing or marks on front and/or back.
