When this coin was first released there was a public outcry about the "Godless" Cents. The mint had left "Dei Gratia" or "By the Grace of God" out of the King's titles for spacing concerns. This was changed for the next and subsequent years and "Dei Gra:" is found in the legend for the rest of the series. That makes this 1911 a "Single Year" type coin. The "Large Cents" of King George V were issued each year between 1911 and 1920 when the Large Cent series ended. Canada then changed over to the familiar 19-millimeter "Small Cent". The George V "Large Cents" are different from all the earlier Victoria and Edward coins in that they have the word "Canada" moved to the reverse.
