Page, born Feb. 10, 1885, in New Bedford, Bristol County, MA., began his automotive career in 1902, (just nine years after the Duryea brothers built the first American car), when he and his brother Arthur A. Page produced The Page automobile in 1905, and by 1910, he had established himself as one of the country's leading authorities on automobiles. Victor W. Page was a talented engineer and inventor. Page' was the Chief Engineering Officer of the largest aviation training center in the world (in France) during World War I, and was employed by the National Youth Administration to train aviation mechanics during World War II. By 1920 Page was a top technical writer and wrote many articles and books on the theory, operation and repair of the American Automobile. Page' was the foremost technical writer of his day. He wrote a great many articles and books on the theory of operation and repair of automobiles. He also wrote extensively on airplanes and airplane service, and he wrote books about motorcycles, tractors, and boats. In short, he wrote about anything that was powered by an internal combustion engine. Page' was more than a writer, however, he was a talented engineer and inventor who designed and attempted to manufacture an airplane and several automobiles and trucks, like…...... The “Victor Page” was produced as a five passenger Touring Speedster that sold for $1250.00 fully equipped. A five passenger sedan fully equipped was priced at $1750.00. In addition Taxicabs and light commercial cars were built. Features included a 117 inch wheelbase, 30 x 3 1/2 inch wheels and tires and disc wheels. Only about 130 Victor Page automobiles were built from 1921 to 1924. But Victor W. Page also had a cloudy history of the companies he formed and the airplane and vehicles he built. He designed and built 2 automobiles called The Victor Page and The Utility, two low-cost air-cooled cars to be built by the Victor Page' Motors Corporation in Farmingdale, Long Island, and Stamford, CT. Had these cars succeeded, they would have changed the course of automotive history. He raised $1,500,000 with his sales of stock, but only 128 cars came off the production line. He was sued by his shareholders and closed up shop in 1924, producing a few conventional cars (named above) until 1927. Although Page' was a self-educated engineer, who wrote many books on airplane and automobile repair, he also designed and built: the forerunner of the modern snowmobile in 1904; the 1906 Page Runabout in Providence, RI; the first aluminum adjustable-pitch propeller in 1909; an airplane in Providence, RI, in 1910; the Aero-Type Four Automobile from 1921 to 1927; the Utility Four Automobile from 1921 to 1927; and the Fairfield Four truck in Stamford, CT, in 1927. Victor Page, one of the first people to make a living as a technical communicator. In later life, he focused on his 33 automotive and aviation books, popular with the public and critics, which contained information on novel technology, profuse illustrations, and easy-to-access information. Page published books quickly, because of his had first hand expertise, and was continually involved in teaching. He died on Apr. 1, 1947 in New Bedford, Mass.
