The setting is Ascot Park in Los Angeles, the year 1914. Billed as the "Championship of the Universe," the Oldfield/Beachey "races" made 34 stops across the country in 1914, with Oldfield and Beachey taking turns "winning." Carlo Demand was an accomplished German artist and prolific illustrator. Motorsports artists as accomplished as Peter Helck were impressed by Demand's skill. Helck wrote about Demand: "...the very best of these works are beyond my skills. There are a dozen in the [print] set which amaze me and I believe [one of them] to be just about the finest racing bit of art I have ever seen." As published in the book, Carlo Demand: In Motion and Color. Print is rendered on an acid-free bright white book stock. Printed back. Print is in excellent condition.
