I have the information about the author(s) of these diaries from Juniata County. A great thanks to you for including many sample pages of each of the years as it enabled me to figure it out. I am the curator of the Tuscarora Academy Museum for the Juniata County Historical Society. It turns out that these were written by a family I have already researched due to their donations to our museum - the Hunt family! The 1899 and 1900 diaries that you are selling were written by Hannah Marie Jamison Hunt (1819-1905.) Her husband, Judson Hunt (1812-1884), had been gone for some time. Still, she remarks about her 56th wedding anniversary on Dec. 26, 1899.Her writing talks often of children Beckie, Mary, Henry. Henry was a doctor who married Tillie Van Ormer and had children Juniata (d.1908) and Paul (d.1922.) Mary and Becky never married. Hannah’s writing also talks often about neighbors, family, and the community. Then there is a 21 year break. During this time, Hannah passed away and her son Henry who lived and worked in Washington D.C.In 1921, the diaries pick up again but are written by Hannah and Judson’s daughter Mary J Hunt (1855-1945.) This year she remarks that her father had been dead for 37 years as of February 1st. “And now Becky and I are left all alone.”Then there is a three year break. During this time (in 1922) both her sister Beckie and nephew Paul died.Starting again in 1924, Mary chronicles her daily life and many events in the community and in her neighbor's lives - and continues it in the years 1926, 1928. 1929, 1931, 1933, 1934, and 1935.---> For additional historical JUNIATA diaries, CLICK HERE <---Excellent original early family and/or town genealogy, history, antique, collectible heirloom and/or ephemera. autographCONDITION: Wear to and tear cover and some dampstain.
