To our knowledge no Type 1 of this photo has never surfaced. The only way we will sell a photo is if we can add the stamp that says it is “First Generation From Original Negative”. That is easy to say but more difficult to deliver. In order to say that we require the following: (1) First Generation - We only sell photos where the source image comes from a scan from the original negative. If we do not have access to the original negative we will not sell a photo. (2) High Quality - We will only sell photos where the image we are able to produce is 300 pixels per inch from that scan. That is what is generally agreed in the industry to be the standard for high quality. The pixels per inch is determined by dividing the length and width of a file each by 300. Therefore in order to produce an 8” by 10” photo we require our source image to be 2400 by 3000. (3) Archival Quality - We only produce photos on the high-grade photographic paper and ink to maximize the archival life. For the purposes of the collectible photo industry this would be classified by PSA as a Type 2 image. In order to be a Type 2 image it needs to have been produced from the original negative but the printing did not have to occur within 2 years of when the image was taken. Most vintage images of Conlon offered on eBay and elsewhere are not taken from the original source image as very few have access to them and as a result would be categorized as Type 4.
