Description: In 1934 the American League sent an all star team to Japan to compete in a series of games around that country. The team originally was to include players from the National & American leagues but at the last minute the N.L. owners declined to have their players included citing injury worries. Connie Mack put together a team consisting of only A.L. players to go on the tour. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, Moe Berg +++ were on that team and pictured in this postcard-- produced in 1934-- from an autographed photo. The American players signed in English and the Japanese players signed in Japanese. Postcard has never been used-- is in very good condition ( edge and corner wear only) and chronicles a very famous historical moment in baseball history--- Ruth had been scheduled on a similar tour in 1931, but being featured in a movie kept him from going. The tour of 1934 hinged on one condition-- that he agree to go-- that is why the 1934 tour is often referred to as the "Babe Ruth All Star Japanese Tour"---- authentic, vintage Ruth--- free shipping
