Description: 1943 Men's Elgin 554 Manual Wind Watch This is a beautiful men's Elgin manual wind watch, made in the U.S.A. in 1943 (the serial number stamped into the movement indicates the year of manufacture). The 15 jewel grade 554 movement has been cleaned and oiled, and the watch is running well and keeping accurate time. The salmon colored dial is in good condition, with standard patina throughout, and some light wear to the finish around the edges where it rubs against the bezel. The 14k R.G.P. (Rolled Gold Plate - rose gold) case has been cleaned and polished, and shows some light surface scratches and tiny dings on the case sides, and some minor gold loss to the edges of the lugs (see pictures). The expandable bracelet that came with the watch remains, and is in good condition - it has been meticulously soaked and scrubbed to remove decades of grime, and polished. The bracelet has 12k gold filled top caps. A brand new acrylic crystal has been installed. Now is your chance to own a WW2 era American made watch that is in very good condition and ready to wear!
