1959 Martin 0-15 guitar

Description: This is a very clean and original 1959 Martin 0-15 in excellent playing condition. In solid EXC - condition. Except for some numbers on the back of the head stock it is about as clean as you can get for a guitar of this age. When I bought it about 20 years ago it was the same except that the action was a little high when tuned to pitch with 12-54 strings. The original frets show little sign of use or wear, the bridge plate is still perfect and it had the original saddle. I had the neck re set so it has room to lower the saddle for decades to come and the original saddle is in the case compartment along with the original bridge pins. It has bone bridge pins now. So to be clear it is in perfect playing order, very original and sounds great. The serial number 171267 indicates that it was made in early 1959. Although it is a fairly small guitar with a 13-1/2 inch lower bout it has a full rich sound; it is very hard to put this one down as it is such a joy to play. It has an 1-11/16" nut and 24.9" scale. The tuners, bridge, frets, finish, pick guard etc are all original and the faux alligator case that has been with it since new still works and looks pretty good. The guitar is not perfect cosmetically and has some scratches, dings and signs of aging but looks very good overall regardless of being 65 years and it has not had any alterations or bad repairs. The frets have virtually no wear and the bridge plate looks perfect and the bridge is original. The bridge and fingerboard are made from Brazilian rosewood. I cleanly removed the pick guard and re glued it with a more compliant adhesive to relieve stress as these old nitrocellulose pick guards shrink and cause cracks. There was no crack visible inside the guitar between the pick guard and the bridge, meaning that the guitar has no through cracks but I put a cleat under the area where cracks usually form to be safe based on experience. I will guarantee that it is as described, a 1959 Martin with the original finish, bridge and bridge plate and tuners with a good neck angle, very good original frets and playability and no through cracks. Here's a chance to get a vintage Martin at a price comparable to what they charge for new ones. I will pack it carefully and ship it in the original case with a good guitar box.
