Chamberlain broke all the records, of course, during his high school career at Philadelphia Overbrook high school in Pennsylvania…….. at this tournament in 1954 Chamberlain set the record individual scoring performance of 46 points on the night of Thursday, December 30, 1954! Pictured here in his Overbrook uniform at the age of 18 years old! Chamberlain, perhaps one of the most unique athletes of all time! all sporting events included …………most physically over the top even in high school where after graduating he went onto major fame playing for the mighty Kansas Jayhawks of the big seven conference. after that he was drafted in the NBA and had a most distinguished career breaking all records, rebounds points, block shots You name it ! Chamberlain was a one man wrecking crew! This is the only program I have ever seen of this tournament and this award honoring chamberlain certainly very deserving and unique. Julius McCoy also of great basketball fame was a leader in this tournament and broke several records as well, the list of Players from this tournament continue on with Lynn Chappell who went onto Wake Forest and then played for the Syracuse nationals Chamberlain, of course went to Kansas and then onto San Francisco Warriors and beyond. Len Chappell from portage high school in Pennsylvania also played in this tournament. Overbrook high school star all-American Wayne Hightower went to Kansas and then the San Francisco Warriors. Joe Holup from Sawyersville high school all American at George Washington University and then the Detroit Pistons and the NBA……… last but not least Horace Walker…..
