All vehicle trades considered including classics and performance. We can assist with financing and shipping as needed. Here is a 1966 Impala SS convertible that underwent a multi-year frame-off restoration resulting in the car you see today. This effort included a number of upgrades including a rebuilt 350ci engine, overdrive transmission, and air conditioning. So while a 1966 Impala is always a hit, this one has even more to offer. Drop the top, fire up the engine, put it in gear, and just float on down the road! This project started with a true Impala SS convertible from the Wilmington, DE plant. There are pages of photos and receipts documenting the restoration along with the original Protect-O-Plate. Originally finished in Marina Blue, the body was stripped to bare metal and received any needed metal repair before being refinished in Butternut Yellow. The frame was also cleaned up, sanded, and painted prior to reassembly. Of course, the car also received a new black top along with many new chrome and trim pieces. If you’ve ever been through this type of project then you know there are more updated parts than can possibly be listed; body mount bushings, fuel tank, fuel lines, brake lines, seals, weatherstripping, emblems, lenses, etc. Next we look under the hood. Don’t be fooled by the valve cover decals; the original 283ci engine has been replaced by a rebuilt 350ci setup with a few performance upgrades including an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor along with an HEI distributor. Note the original style ram horn exhaust manifolds along with a new aluminum radiator disguised in black. The old Powerglide transmission was also replaced in favor of a 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission feeding a 10-bolt rear end. Note this big Impala has power steering and power front disc brakes which make it easy for anyone to drive. The black SS interior is spacious and comfortable. As an SS it has factory bucket seats (trim code 813) that flank a center console. Everything looks stock with a few exceptions, those being a digital radio with Bluetooth and an underdash temperature gauge. Also the automatic transmission’s shifter plate has been changed to reflect the 4-speed 700R4 arrangement. Some of the nice features include front seat belt holders and a passenger side Kleenex box. Everything works properly including the headlights, turn signals, hazards, dash lights, courtesy lights, hood light, trunk light, and backup lights. It also has a working horn, parking brake, wipers, and washers. In 2019 a Classic Auto Air HVAC system was installed to keep things cool on those hot summer days. There are a lot of great cars from the 1960’s but few of them remain as comfortable to drive as this Impala. It has far more space than a Corvette, a smoother ride than a Mustang, and a classic look that has really aged well. And with all its recent work this SS convertible is a turn-key car with better performance and more features than you could get all those decades ago.
