Description: 1966 Gretsch 6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman w/ Filtertron/Supertron Pickups Gretsch historians, we have a unique and special instrument to share with you today! This Country Gent, made in October of ‘66 just a few months after the Baldwin purchase, features a magic pickup combo. A Supertron in the neck, and a Filtertron in the bridge. The finish is in great condition, and the hardware sports a delightful vintage patina. The guitar has an awesome vintage feel to it and can get tones that you just can’t get with anything else.This guitar is in excellent shape for something of this age. The original foam rubber on the pair of mutes has been replaced, and mechanically, the linkages work perfectly; a rare sight in the land of the vintage Gretsch. The electronics are original and untouched. The frets have a touch of honest wear on the first few, but overall, it plays very cleanly at medium-low action. The binding, like that of all vintage Gretsch guitars, is in fair condition. It’s been reattached and stabilized in multiple locations. It’s not currently flaking or falling off, but as all Gretsch collectors know, the only ones with good-quality binding are the ones where the binding has been removed and replaced.This guitar authentically takes you back to the sounds of the 60s in a way where few other instruments can even come close. Whether your sound is the country twangin’ of Mr. Atkins or the British Invasion tones of George Harrison, this is the rare gem for you!The included original hardshell case is a bit tattered, but still does the job.
