Description: NEW The obverse features the Bacchus Logo. The reverse features Bacchus with Goblet of Wine Saluting a Group of Costumed Mardi Gras Revelers in New Orleans French Quarter and reads "BACCHUS SALUTES MARDI GRAS...1971." This doubloon was designed by Famed New Orleans Artist Blaine Kern and made in West Germany. The doubloon has the Bacchus Motto "IN VINO VERITAS" struck into its edge at the 12 o'clock position, and "999" struck into its edge at the 6 o'clock position. The Krewe of Bacchus was organized in 1968 and held their first Street Parade and Mardi Gras Ball, and issued their first Mardi Gras Doubloons in 1969. This doubloon has "WGERMANY" stamped on its obverse at the bottom at the 6 o'clock position, and also has the letters "BK" stamped on its reverse at the bottom beneath the "7" of the "71."
