Description: 1975 Press Photo Fabriform erosion control installed near Crosby-Lynchburg in TX This is an original press photo. The Crosby-Lynchburg road between I-10 East and the Lynchburg ferry to the San Jacinto Monument, is constantly enlarged by erosion, scour and wave action from Ship Channel backwaters. To solve the problem, the Soiltech Department of Raymond International Incorporated, of Houston, installed 45,000 square feet of Fabriform erosion control revetment mattress under a $130,000 contract. The dual-walled fabric which constitutes the mattress was installed on the slope and carried below water level to prevent scouring. Once positioned and set in the anchor trench, a fine grain concrete was pumped into the mats inflating them into a "waffle" configuration.
