Description: Offered here is one of the absolute rarest cards of the 1970's, a 1979 Hostess Unissued Proof card of Willie McCovey #161 Graded SGC 5 EX! Highest graded in the world....and is so rare that it is the only one to have ever been graded by SGC or PSA! Small surface blemish accounts for the 5 grade, otherwise stunning and sharp, and it has eye popping color! This is the only one for sale in the entire world, raw, graded, or otherwise! The 1979 Hostess set consisted of 150 cards, but on a few production sheets they made some extra cards to be possible replacements for another card in the set(or for producing a possibly larger set). These cards were never issued to the public. Very few were made and fewer survived. This is a final production card with a printed back. The McCovey card is listed in the Standard Card Catalog as #161 even though the number is not printed on the back of the card. Some of the unissued proofs have the number on and a few don't. The ones that don't are numbered in alphabetic order. The checklist is pictured in the photos. The condition of this card is absolutely gorgeous. The color is superb. This is a very rare find.
