The music of the legendary Duke Ellington (top) is celebrated in a Great Performances encore presentation, "Ellington - The Music Lives On," airing on public television Friday, October 4 at 9 p.m. (check local station for exact date and time.) Hosted by actress Cicely Tyson (bottom left), the program features some of today's top music performers, such as Carley Simon (bottom right), Sister Sledge, Tammy Grimes, Ken Page and many others. Interspersed with the music are personal reminisces of Duke's friends and family. A co-production of WNET/New York and Fremantle International, Inc., "Ellington - The Music Lives On" is produced by Bob Bach and Bill W. Chastain and directed by Jerome Schnur.
