Description: EXCEPTIONALLY RARE BOSTON EGLOMISE PANEL TABERNACLE ANTIQUE PIER MIRROR WITH HUNTING SCENE We take the utmost honor in offering you this very rare and most exceptional early 19th Century Federal period Boston Eglomise panel hunting scene mirror. It has bead and sausage embellished concave side columns accented by 12 Tabernacle balls and smartly appointed crown molding. Its base panel glass is original with lovely patina. The back boarding is also original and un-played with. This is the works of one of Charles Street Boston's mirror and decorative artisans circa 1830's, who uniquely crated these gems so that the concave columns would refract lighting. Remember they didn't have 100 Watt Bulbs then so a room's play on lighting was an exacting science of the time. We recently met a fascinating California gentleman who actually gave us an extremely informative tutorial while grabbing another Charles Street 19th Ct. diamond. We are glad it went to his collection. The gold gilt work and formed columns are well preserved. We note a tiny amount of gilt paint loss restoration. These are delicate pieces and its condition here is a testament to it being a fresh New England North Shore fresh treasure. We are very proud of our entire eglomise mirror collection.
