The Morgan Dollar, minted from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921, is named after its designer, George T. Morgan, who served as the Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint during that period. It was introduced as a result of the Bland-Allison Act of 1878, which required the U.S. Treasury to convert a specific amount of silver into silver dollars. The coin's design reflects the nation's westward expansion and industrial development during the late 19th century. In 2021, both the Morgan Dollar and Peace Dollar made a triumphant return, thanks in part to David Ryder who was instrumental in facilitating the execution of the 1921 Silver Dollar Anniversary Act. This act authorized the mintage of Morgan and Peace Dollars to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the transition from one to the other. The United States Mint issued five Morgan Dollars, representing the original mints, and one Peace Dollar. These coins became highly popular among collectors worldwide. Building upon this success, the U.S. Mint has now introduced the highly anticipated 2023 Morgan Silver Dollar and 2023 Peace Dollar.
