Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Available for sale is a complete set of the four (4) Boulder Dam 35mm filmstrips issued by the TRU-VUE Company of Rock Island, Illinois in the 1930s . Each filmstrip has fourteen (14) images “arranged and photographed by the Boulder Dam Service Bureau.” When viewed in a TRU-VUE viewer, these images will appear in 3-D. Boulder Dam (aka Hoover Dam) is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River on the border between the Nevada and Arizona. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over 100 lives. Referred to as the Hoover Dam (after President Herbert Hoover) in bills passed by Congress during its construction, it was renamed Boulder Dam by the Roosevelt administration. The Hoover Dam name was restored by Congress in 1947. These four filmstrips come from a non-smoking household and are still in their original boxes. We carefully inspected all 4 filmstrips, and they appear to be in very good condition: the opening leaders are intact with no tears, the sprocket holes are all in good condition, and the filmstrips themselves do not appear to have seen much use. Finding a complete set of all 4 of the TRU-VUE Boulder Dam subjects in good condition doesn’t happen all that often.
