Description: 6 HC Volumes Burns Mantle Theater Lot The Best Plays of 1937-1938 1940-1946 Here is a group of 6 "The Best Plays Of... And The Year Book Of The Drama In America" hardcover volumes, edited by Burns Mantle. With illustrations (black & white). Dodd, Mead And Company publisher. Printed in the U.S.A.I have placed a ruler in some pictures for size reference. Black hard boards with paper titles pasted to the front covers and spines. There are no dust jackets. These books came from one estate and a few have inscriptions and bookplates from a husband and wife.Overall good condition, showing expected age and handling wear. Gently handled. Books do have age tanning, some foxing. Firm bindings except volume 1940-1941 has some separation along the title page and frontispiece. There is pulling away from inside the spine covers. Hard covers have dust, smudges, soiling as shown, with bumped / rubbed corners and spine ends. More aging and shelf dust along the closed page edges. May be a few page edge nicks and minor tears here and there. I noted one torn off page corner. It's possible I overlooked something while fanning through. No musty or smoke odor. Please view pictures as this will aid in judging the aging and wear. I show several close ups.- "The Best Plays of 1937-1938", 527 pages: frontispiece and title page have more brown spotting; lengthly personal inscription from 1938 written on the front end page, with a bookplate pasted over part of it.
