Phuoc Vinh The Phuoc Vinh Special Forces Base, also known as Firebase Blackhawk, was a United States Army and Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) Special Forces base during the Vietnam War. It was located near the town of Phước Vĩnh in Bình Dương Province, approximately 35 miles (56 km) north of Saigon.The base was strategically located to support operations in the surrounding areas, including the protection of Highway 13, a major supply route from Saigon to the north. It was also positioned to provide support to nearby combat operations and to conduct reconnaissance and interdiction missions.The base was home to Special Forces units, including the U.S. Army Special Forces and ARVN Special Forces, as well as indigenous personnel known as "Montagnards," who were recruited to support the allied forces.
