Description: If we had $1 for every time we were ask if we had windmill tail vane stencils, we wouldn't need to sell these. See our additional stencil layout listings as we now offer those for various sizes & models of Aermotor, Baker Monitor, Dempster, Challenge, Flint & Walling Star, Red Cross, Andrew, Heller Aller, Currie, Fairbanks-Morse, Samson/ Stover & Woodmanse manufactured windmills. Many others are in production. Each stencil layout is reproduced from either actual tail vanes or published manufacturer data. Depending on specifics for your windmill each stencil layout is reproduced to scale on 48" X 36" or 36" X 24" paper, shipped rolled in a protective tube via Fed Ex SmartPost. Printing is black & white. Each is easily used by simply cutting out the logo images with an Exacto knife and securing the stencil layout in place with masking tape. The digital printing enlargement process used does not produce 100% crisp images so in some cases you'll need to use common sense when cutting out a letter. Trace the images onto your vane and you're ready to paint an exact replica of the factory designed logo. Each is watermarked with a large red signature to stop unauthorized reproduction. While the watermark is very obvious it will not interfere with the stencils use. The watermark is not shown in the listing picture. If you have concerns please contact us before bidding. If you're a prefectionist you may want to consider alternatives such as the logo'd vanes we sell in our ebay store starting at $159.99. Having used our layouts several times for projects at our windmill park we offer these helpful tips for use.1. Once ready to begin your project unroll the layout face down on a table or other large flat surface. Place a weighted object like a drinking glass at each corner and allow the layout to sit overnight. This will keep the layout from rolling up on you as you start to work.2.Buy some carbon paper to trace your layout design onto the vane or use a sharp Exacto knife to cut out your letters.3. We recommend using a large sheet of cardboard under the layout once you begin to cut out letters. This will protect your table from being cut and provides a good work surface that you can tape your layout to so it does not move ore roll up on you.4. Once you have letters cut out you can trim your stencil layout to segments more easily positioned on your tail vane.5. If your stencil layout wants to roll up, or if you plan to wait a day or two to trace it to your vane, we suggest you keep it flattened out with cardboard and a few books for weight as moisture in the air will make it roll at the freshly cut letter edges.6. Position your stencil layout segments on your vane with masking tape. 7. If you choose to cut out your letters use a Sharpie Ultra Fine Point marker to trace the outlines of your stencil layout to your vane. Use a pencil if tracing using carbon paper. Remove your stencil layout from your vane before you begin to fill in the letters with paint. ( WE DO NOT RECOMMEND TRYING TO SPRAY PAINT as the layout will move and leave overspray.) 8. Use a water base enamel paint (we prefer satin finish) available at Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot along with small face craft & hobby paint brushes. This listing is for a 6ft Dempster #12 Windmill vane stencil layout. This can be used for your restoration as noted above. It includes 2- 24" X 36" sheets as shown. Message us with your questions about this item. If we don't have the one you need listed, send us a note and we'll let you know if we can create a listing for the stencil layout you desire.
