Description: 9'6" x 12'2" ft A+ top possible condition and clean hand knotted vintage authentic rug (mid 1900s estimate south caucas / caucasian regions base of Mt. Sabalan ). Best condition vintage possible! The rug has been professionally cleaned. Full even original pile. No stains, tears, holes, animal or smoke. This special carpet is made of the finest lamb kurk wool and natural vegetable dyes by skilled crafts people from villages and hamlets at the base of Mt. Sabalan. Its mineral rich waters when used to wash the rug during the finishing process lends unusually rich tones famous for the region. Double tied knots upon two foundation layers for another century of durability. Rich spectrum of red from pomegranate madder root and vermilion, dark to light blue from indigo grape lilac hyacinth and centaurea cyanus, brown earths, wheats and tans from larkspur and weld. Very hard to find dark chocolate to black accent. Natural dyes oxidize over the century giving light and dark shades of each color called 'abrash' by curators, giving lots of tone nuance.
