The decorative card is designed in the style of early portolan cards and therefore has a large number of rhombus lines and compass roses. This original engraved map, which shows several Rhumblines and compass roses as the early Portolan maps did, was published by Richard William Seale (1732 - 1785) in 1748. It measures 29 x 90 cm (plate size) and is in good condition with only little browning due to age.
