Description: DETAILS: Original pinback button issued for the national Equal Rights Amendment march held on July 9, 1978. The protest march was a tribute to Alice Paul who had recently passed away. In many ways the march was a celebration of where the feminist movement had begun, as a suffrage movement led by Paul, and its monumental achievements, a Constitutional amendment guaranteeing womens rights! The march itself was the largest march for women’s rights in the nation’s history – nearly three times the size of the largest suffrage parade, and at least twice as big as the landmark August 26, 1970 march in New York – a hundred thousand supporters of equality took to the streets of Washington, D.C., calling for an extension of the deadline for ratification of the ERA. Measures 2 1/4" inches. Rare.GUARANTEE: We offer a lifetime guarantee on all of our items to be authentic originals issued by the organization stated. They are not later re-issues or reproductions.
