Description: Amidon brace with Apr 20, 1880 patent jaws. Patent # 226,646 This is a 9" sweep. The only markings are on the chuck is "Amidons Pat July 20"The marking looks like it was missing the year when manufactured.Also, it is the wrong date from the actual patent.According to one source, this looks like the Saxon & Amidon long chuck.Amidon and Saxon were partners in the 1878-1883 time period. This was a moderately priced plane and does not have fancy wood.All the wood is in good condition but needs refinished. No cracking but free to turn.
