This is the original color still set as used in movie theatres. A still is an 8 x 10 inch placard advertising a movie. They were displayed in the theatre lobby to entice moviegoers to go to the box office and buy a ticket. Sometimes, studios would make 8x10 "color still" sets which were really just smaller lobby card sets. They even had numbers on each still just like the lobby cards. Usually there would be eight color stills in a full set, but occasionally the number would vary. What distinguishes these special color stills is not only that they look just like lobby cards and are numbered, but they are also on the same weight of paper that regular lobby cards are, which is much heavier than the paper used for ordinary stills.These are in either good, used condition or brand new depending on whether or not they have been used at all. This authentic lobby card (as issued by N.S.S.- National Screen Service) was printed in full color on a slightly heavier stock paper. Stills measure 8" x 10" and are photographs printed on thin glossy paper that were created for all movies from the 1910's through the present day. Studios would often issue dozens of different stills for each movie, and they would be sent to theaters showing the movies. Starting in the 1960's, many collectors began reproducing stills, and it can be sometimes difficult to distinguish between original theater-used stills and reproductions (the main differences are the quality of the paper and the crispness of the photographic image). Certain still usually depict the same images as a lobby card set. (However, there are some still sets that are completely or partially different from the lobby card set.) Most still sets usually come as a group of eight but there are some that were produced by studios as only offering whatever amount they saw fit. Some sets only contain four stills and some even have over twenty stills! These are ORIGINALS!
