Description: Charming and elegant antique 9ct yellow gold brooch collet-set with an oval faceted gemstone thought to be either an aquamarine or blue topaz but not tested, the stone flanked on either side by two natural seed pearls. The reverse of the brooch has a small hole to attach a safety chain. The fastening pin is slightly bent and the brooch fastens with a safety pin clasp. The brooch is stamped for 9ct gold and the maker's marks of S. Ward & Sons who operated from 1903-1910 from premises in Hockley Street and Branston Lane in Birmingham. The brooch is 5.4cms in length and 1cm at widest point. It weighs 2.4g. This would make a lovely, stylish bridal gift, (something blue,) or present for someone with an affinity for the colour or period.
