This is a very fine and attractive pewter plate by an accomplished American maker who was active in the 18th Century. This fine pewter plate has a single reeded rim and shows fine craftmanship. This fine plate has a partially worn impressed touch mark that reads, "R. A. BOSTON", This touch mark is worn, but it is the mark for Richard Austin. This mark is listed in "A Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, mark number 9, page 24; where a 8" plate with This mark was valued at $40 back in 1957. This scarce pewter plate is offered with no reserve and a Buy It Now. SIZE: This Austin plate measures 7/16" Deep x 8 1/2" Dia.. CONDITION: The condition is good with a section of the rim that has several dents, as pictured. There is also minor scratching, denting and wear to the surface of this pewter plate.
