Description: This is an original period large Doctors or Physicians Knife sometimes called a Pillbuster. 100+ years old. It measures 3.75" long with long main Spear with long matchstriker pull and secondary Pen blades. Both are used and sharpened but are very full, both ways. Strong snaps on both. Both blades are stamped only AMERICAN. I believe that's American Shear and Knife Co of Woodbury Ct. However, it could also be American Knife Company of Thomaston,CT. On the back of the main blade is a distinctive logo or trademark that could confirm which it is. Nickel silver grooved bottom bolster, Bar shield and the Seal Cap, or Pillbuster on the top. The handles are genuine mother of pearl. While the handles are complete, there are tight and secure hairline cracks on both sides as shown clearly in pictures. Beautiful old knife nonetheless.
