The two-door armoire dates to 1880 and it was crafted in France in the traditional Brittany style. The top of the chestnut wood armoire is carved with a large ship wheel, honoring the maritime history of Brittany, a coastal region in northwestern France. Yet more shipwheels and spindles adorn the two doors. The highlights of this armoire are the two carvings of a man and woman, one on each door, showing good French country folk in a rustic landscape with a cozy cottage in the background. Further carvings decorate the front and sides of this large armoire or cabinet, including flowers and flourishing leaves. There is plenty of storage space on shelves inside the armoire, as well as a lower drawer. Sure to bring plenty of character to your home, this fine antique French Brittany armoire will be the crowning glory in your bedroom, hallway, or anywhere you choose to place it.
