Description: ANTIQUE HALF GALLON SALT GLAZE CROCKThis circa 1860-80 English or Canadian salt glaze decorated crock holds two liters or about one half gallon and measures 5-1/4" tall with a diameter of 6-1/8" bottom, 7" top and weighs 7.7 pounds. It is largely a straight sided crock, but extends out at the mid-line before tapering toward the top and bottom rims. It is heavily cobalt decorated on all sides and the handles. It is marked 2L ( Two Liter). The crock is in good condition with one flake on the side, a hairline on the bottom, and repair to one handle where it attaches to the side of the crock. The hairline on the bottom does not leak. A well-preserved example of 19th century English or Canadian decorated stoneware! NOTE: All stoneware is double boxed for safe delivery.
