Antique Copeland Late Spode Ironstone Handle Plate Acorn Imari Eng C1837-1847

Description: This Very Beautiful Antique Copeland Late Spode Plate could possibly be an underplate that once had a matching Gravy Boat or miniature Tureen. It has ornate moulded relief handles at either end with a beautiful acorn design that is further heightened by the gold gilding which enhances the decoration. The rich and vibrant colours predominately White and Blue with iron red and rusty orange flowers and fruit add a luxurious look to this plate that is at least 177 years old. (I have researched the Backstamp,pattern ect to get an idea of its age;im fairly certain it is correct ) The Pattern Number is D.795, this number,design, pattern etc has not been found on the internet from my many hours of research , therefore I can only presume that it is extremely rare and somewhat valuable . William Tayler Copeland & William Garrett ran the Spode Factory between 1833-1867, therefore Copeland Late Spode means former Spode. Japanese Imari was extremely fashionable in the mid to late Victorian Era , this incredible plate is a fine example of its kind. You could use it for many purposes including a sweet/Cake plate,candle underplate,plant underplate,add a Small Tureen or a Gravy Boat in a similar colour. Or use it as a lovely display plate or whatever you wish. This Antique is in excellent condition , however there is slight wear,tear and patina commensurate with its considerable age. There are no major flaws,chips,cracks,crazing,breakages,repairs or stains. It has not lost its lustre and the gilding has only slight rubbing of the gold, however this is barely noticeable or a detriment to its aesthetic. The Backstamp and Pattern Number are still visible with only slight rubbing. There appears to be a J in a circle near the backstamp, which according to records indicates the month of manufacture (January,June,July ) N.B.
