Description: Antique Early 1800's Primitive Wrought Iron Hand Forged Blacksmith made FIREPLACE POKER. Handsome and beautifully made, the handle has an interesting shape with a good curl to the very end. The shaft is well designed, starts out being 4 sided and was flattened by the blacksmith to have 6 sides thru the length, ending in 4 sides at the hook end. A good solid and balanced weight to the feel of the poker, this measures 25-1/2" in length. We have left this as found, it has not been cleaned retains old surface rust and some paint.
