Everything is right about this one, from the common width, the linen backed material and the lack of the small letter "J", it is authentic and displays well in the custom frame. This is actually a double sampler, where the schoolgirl attached her first sampler to a later one. The date is not shown but it screams early 1800's. A sister sampler from the same Maine estate was dated 1820. This one is now protected with a professionally created frame by Pond House Gallery in Tenants Harbor, Maine. Of course it has acid free backing and UV blocking glass. The 17" x 12 1/2" frame securely holds this 8 1/2" x 13" folk art treasure and displays very well. Ships free.
