Description: CONDITION: Slight wear to gilding on edge of saucer. This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in Germany by an unknown manufacturer. It has an inscription, partially worn, indicating the year, 1824. The saucer has a diameter of 5 5/8 inches. The cup is 2 3/4 inches tall, without the handle, with a diameter of 3 1/4 inches. The cup has a finely detailed scene hand painted on the front. The sweeping landscape shows a village, tall structures in the background and gardens. The sky is beautifully painted and in the foreground, rocky outcropping and a tree are meticulously painted. There is probably a clue to this location in the inscription on the saucer. Gilding that frames the scene still has remnants of fine chasing. A bird’s head is enclosed in the graceful empire handle. This may have been a product of Schlaggenwald, Volkstedt or some other fine factory. A person fluent in German might discover this location in Germany. #E2 Please do not bid if you do not intend to pay. You will be blocked from further purchases.
