Description: LOT OF 6 ANTIQUE PORCELAIN DOCUMENT SEALS 🔥🔥THE🔥🔥WOWZA 🔥 🔥S🔥A🔥L🔥E🔥🔥 This listing features a lot of 6 unique wax seals or ink stamps of noteworthy people, real and literary. The general consensus is they are the heads of Charles Lindbergh (goggles), Lady in Pink (unknown), Friar Tuck, Abraham Lincoln, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The tallest stamp is Lincoln, at approximately 3 3/8 inches and the shortest is Friar Tuck, measuring approximately 3 inches. The bases all measure 1 3/8 inches in diameter. They are all made from turned wood and hand-painted black. Some have paint wear but not as much as would be expected. They date back to the early 1900's and are likely German, considering the style of detail painting. The actual seals/stamps are no longer present, but nail holes, where they were, can be felt in the center of each base through the gold felt protectors. Two of the heads are detached from their bases but the others are securely intact. All are mounted on metal rods which screw into the bases, so a little bit of glue would make things right. I leave repairs or patina changes to the new owner, who might also give them a gentle cleaning. They’ve been in storage for decades and show a little ‘time grime’. Research did not find anything else like them but did learn that wealthy individuals liked to commission porcelain hand seals like them for personal use. They are considered extremely rare, likely one of a kind, and conservatively valued at $100 each in their present condition. The heads are hand-painted porcelain bisque and in remarkable condition, except for Oliver Hardy. His nose and the edge of his cap’s brim are chipped. I think it’s funny that his nose is chipped since that’s where he got smacked the most by Stan Laurel. Also interesting is how both were depicted not wearing their iconic bowler hats, but character hats worn in one early film. These are priceless souvenirs from a simpler time you can hold in your hands like a little work of art.
