Description: CONDITION: Plate A has a firing crack in the border that does not go through to the other side. Slight stacking wear to pattern. This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by Meissen around 1770. It measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter. The plate has an ornate, reticulated border and is known as “Bruehlsches Alleriel”. It is hand painted with birds and a colorful spray of flowers in the center. The border has panels of flowers that are hand painted and trellis work that is highlighted with gold. A little known fact about this type of plate is that during the manufacturing process, the blank plate is allowed to dry to leather consistency. Then the artisan cuts the reticulated with a knife like tool. All of the cut outs are done by hand. It was a very labor intensive process to create one plate. No other porcelain factory in history has met such stringent requirements. Two plates are available, A or B. #E318 Please do not bid if you do not intend to pay.
