In wooden box. Both the top and bottom are hinged to open. The instructions are on the inside of the top lid. An interesting piece of early medical technology for your collection, office or a conversation piece! J.H. Bunnell & Co.'s No. 4 D.D. Home Medical Apparatus with standard dry cell battery in a wooden box with metal latches. There are two compartments: the top contains two 4–foot conducting cords with tips, two tube hand electrodes, and one insulating handle. The bottom compartment contains three holes to place the conducting cords in to obtain different currents of electricity from the mildest currents to "a power that few can endure". The dry cell battery is also stored in the bottom. The Home Medical Apparatus was used by physicians in their offices and when they traveled to patients' homes during the late 19th and early 20th century. It was a medical battery for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases. This device sold for $10 during the 1890–1920 period and was used by the Raub doctors.
