Description: This rare, unusual Erdmann Schlegelmilch small "mug" is a bit of an oddity. It has a distinct handmade quality, almost as if it were a prototype for a product that may or may not have ever gone into production (if you've seen a mug like this somewhere else, let us know!) There are few ES pieces out there with this "tapestry" textured surface, so despite its hairline crack and tiny chips, it's a collector's item. The mug is 2.5 inches tall, the length including the handle is 3.5 inches, and the diameter of the mouth is 2.4 inches wide. Its capacity is about 6 or 7 ounces. On the bottom, the marks consist of the "ES" round logo, in use until the 1890s, and above that is the word or name "Depon" and the model number 3968. To the upper left of that is the word "Patent" lightly enscribed in big letters. The mug in the photos is the actual item for sale from this listing.
