Description: Extraordinary well preserved condition and rare to find "Adamantine" antique earlier clock with lion heads and paw feet made by the Seth Thomas thru the earlier years 1880'S as dated its insignia in script at the clock movement and back cover of the clock. Stunning ornate exquisite incised decor at the base and sides of the clock black wood. The Adamantine with a simulated brownish reddish beautiful marble finish is a patented laminate finish from the 1800'S, there is expected shrinkage at minimally seen at some parts which authenticates its age and gives character to the clock. This clock features the original signed Seth Thomas 8 day time and strike movement, which has been cleaned/serviced and is in a running condition, Strikes counting the hour, i.e. 1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc., on an antique cathedral gong, and announcing the half hour with a single toll. It may need servicing for continuing usage The dial is solid brass bezel and original hands.This clock comes complete with the key and pendulum.
