Description: Extraordinary historical estate sale find…..the recipient of this trophy, Amy Virginia Ellis, won the First Prize at Mobile’s (Alabama) Progress Exposition for the Better Babies Contest, Nov 10, 1926. Better Babies contests were held at State Fairs in many States during the early 1900’s to recognize and promote health standards in children during the Eugenics Movement of the early 20th century. Trophy is made of a “special metal” by Homan Mfg Co in USA. Stands approximately 6.5”. There are a few dents on the front side and rim. I have done extensive research and have not been able to locate another type trophy.
